INAUGURATION OF RAWALPINDI BENCH OF INAUGURATION OF RAWALPINDI BENCH OF LAHORE HIGH COURT ADDRESS By MK. JUSTICE RUSAM S. SIDHWA Senior Judge [10th January 1981] The Additional Advocate-General, the President of the Rawalpindi District Bar Association, Respected Members of the Bar and the Judiciary : All glory to Almighty Allah and His Holy Prophet Muhammad (may peace be upon him) and his Holy Companions and Perfect Souls. In the name of Allah, the Merciful and :Beneficent, and in the name of the Holy Prophet Muhan-,mad (may peace be upon him) I have much pleasure in announcing the opening of the Rawalpindi Bench of the Lahore High Court. The need for a Bench of the Lahore High Count operating permanently. at Rawalpadi was felt for rnany years. Consistent efforts ..were made by the Rawalpindi District Bar Association in this respect. Today their efforts have bcen crowned with success. The Rawalpindi Bench will now cater to the needs and requirements of the public in the Rawalpindi Division and in course of time the litigant public will save much unnecessary expense and time, which they otherwise; would have to bear, in pursuing their cases in Lahore. An enlightened Bar is a sentinal of the rights and liberties of the public and a guardian of their freedom. The Lahore High Court Bar will now have three sister Bar Associations to meet .this challenge and I trust that the Rawalpindi High Court Bar Association (which will now be formed) will play a leading part in protecting and safeguarding these rights. On behalf of the Chief Justice and Judges of the Lahore High Court and my two colleagues who are with me, I wish the Rawalpindi Bar many years of happy and meaningful service to the litigant public. In conclusion, I renew to the Rawalpindi Bar the assurance of our highest respect. May Allah guide and protect you all in all your endeavours:
