WORKING OF THE SUPREME COURT <!--[if gte mso 10]> WORKING OF THE SUPREME COURT (During the period from 1-7-1992 to 30-9-1992) During the period under review, the strength of the Court was (from 1-7-1992 to 23-7-1992) Chief Justice and thirteen Associate Judges and from 24-7-1992 to 30-8-1992, the Acting Chief Justice and twelve Associate Judges and after 31-8-1992 eleven Associate Judges. 2. On 30th June, 1992, 1,457 Petitions and 1,999 Appeals were pending. During the period under review 1,140 fresh Petitions and 250 Appeals were instituted. The total number of cases alongwith the back log for disposal before the Court was thus 2,597 Petitions and 2,249 Appeals. 3. The long vacation of the Court commenced from 4th July till the 2nd October, 1992. However, a Bench consisting of two Hon. Judges worked at Lahore from 2nd to 13th August and three Benches consisting of 11 available Hon. Judges from 23rd August to 2nd September, 1992 at Rawalpindi. 218 Petitions and 45 Appeals were decided from 1-7-1992 to 30-9-1992.
