SARDAR FAIZ MUHAMMAD KHAN KHOSA, ADVOCATE SUPREME COURT PASSES AWAY <!--[if gte mso 10]> SARDAR FAIZ MUHAMMAD KHAN KHOSA, ADVOCATE SUPREME COURT PASSES AWAY! Sardar Faiz Muhammad Khan Khosa, a leading lawyer of Pakistan specializing in criminal law who practised for more than half a century, passed away on 22nd January, 2009. Sardar Sahib was widely known for his honesty, integrity and an ardent devotion to the Legal Profession and an unflinching faith in Rule of Law. Sardar Faiz Muhammad Khan Khosa was born on 18th November, 1920; he belonged to the Chief's family of Khosa Tribe of Baluchis of Dera Ghazi Khan. Khosa Sahib did his Graduation and obtained Master's degree from Govern ment College, Lahore during 1936-1942 and had a brilliant acade mic career studded with Prizes, Distinctions, Scholarships and Academic Roll of Honour. He sat for Indian Civil Service Examination in 1943 and got 34th position in India and 3rd position among Muslim candidates. Sardar Sahib took zealous part in the Freedom Movement resulting in the birth of Pakistan; he was President Muslim Students Federation, Government College, Lahore in 1940; Vice-President Punjab Muslim Students Federation in 1941; he successfully organized the renowned first Pakistan Conference at Lahore in 1941 in the Islamia College Grounds under the Presidentship of the Father of the Nation, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah; he had several contacts and meetings with the Father of the Nation and his Lieutenants and was thus bred and brought up in the Pakistan Ideology, which had become an article of faith with him; he was Honorary Secretary Quaid-e-Azam Relief Fund for rehabilitation and settlement of refugees and was awarded the 'Tehrik-e-Pakistan Gold Medal' by the Tehrik-e-Pakistan Workers Trust on 14-8-1991, presented by the Prime Minister of Pakistan. Khosa Sahib did his LL.B., from the Punjab University Law College, Lahore in 1949; was enrolled as Pleader on 1-9-1949; Advocate of the Lahore High Court on 13-1-1953; and then Advocate of the Supreme Court of Pakistan. Sardar Sahib practised law for a period of more than half a century before the District Courts at Dera Ghazi Khan, Lahore High Court and Supreme Court of Pakistan and established himself as a leading lawyer of the country specializing in criminal law, hundreds of reported cases conducted by him are published in various Law Reports/Journals of the country. His significant contribution in the local socio-political spheres were Chairman Union Committee; Vice Chairman Municipal Committee; Member District Board; Member District Council; Member Divisional Council; he received training as Public Representative and completed Special Course at the National Institute of Public Administration (NIPA), Lahore in 1966 and rendered meritorious services to the Pakistan Red Cross Society. Sardar Faiz Muhammad Khan Khosa, Advocate was elected as Member, Pakistan Bar Council in 1984; he was Chairman, Appeal Committee of the Pakistan Bar Council; Member, Disciplinary Committee of the Pakistan Bar Council; Member, Law Reforms Committee of the Pakistan Bar Council; elected as Member, Finance Committee of the Pakistan Bar Council; he organized and participated in the 5th Jurist Conference held at Karachi; represented Pakistan in Law Asia Conference held at New Delhi, India and represented Pakistan in China as a Member of the Pakistan Bar Council. He is survived by: Mrs. Atya Faiz (widow); Tariq Masood Khan Khosa (son), Director-General Federal Investigation Agency; Arif Mansoor Khan Khosa (son), Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer, Expo-Pakistan; Nasir Mahmood Khan Khosa (son), Chief Secretary, Government of Baluchistan; Asif Saeed Khan Khosa (son), Judge, Lahore High Court, Lahore and Nilofar Zakarya (daughter), Principal, Lahore Grammar School, Lahore. We pray to Allah, the Almighty, to give late Khosa Sahib a special place in heavens, and grant courage and fortitude to his family to bear the great loss. Aamin!
