JUSTICE SAYED ZAHID HUSSAIN, JUDGE, SUPREME COURT OF PAKISTAN Sayed Zahid Hussain obtained Law Graduation Degree from Punjab' University Law College; joined profession of law in the year 1972; was associate of Mr. S.M. Zafar, Senior Advocate. He conducted important cases as Advocate High Courts, Supreme Court of Pakistan and Supreme Court of Azad Jammu and Kashmir. He was elevated as Judge, Lahore High Court in 1998 and was confirmed on 19-5-1999. He was Judge, Banking Court of the Lahore High Court, Company Judge, Election Tribunal and Custodian of Evacuee Properties; Chairman Rules Committee of Lahore High Court, Chairman Enrolment Committee of Punjab Bar Council, Chairman Committee (Lahore High Court) for enrolment of Advocates in the Supreme Court; Member, Syndicate Punjab University; University of Engineering and Technology and Lahore University of Management Sciences. Mr. Justice Sayed Zahid Hussain was appointed Chief Justice Lahore High Court with effect from 1-1-2008, which position he held till elevation as judge, Supreme Court .of Pakistan on 14-4-2009. As Chief Justice Lahore High Court, he took keen interest for the betterment and welfare of the subordinate Judicial Officers in the Province raising their salaries manifold and increasing the allowances of employees of Establishment of the Courts and launched the Punjab Judicial Academy. He took several steps for the welfare and betterment of the Bar. Mr. Justice Sayed Zahid Hussain hails from Chak Qazian District Narowal (Ex-District Sialkot) and was born on 15-12-1949. He belongs to a respected sayed family, his forefathers held the august positions of Qazi/Qazi-ul-Qazat in the Mughal era. He has rendered numerous important judgments on civil and constitutional matters and brings with him vast experience' in the field of law. He is held in the highest esteem in legal circles.
