Obituary: Obituary: MR. HAKAM QURESHI, ADVOCATE, LAHORE PASSES AWAY! Icon is probably too mild a word to describe Mr.Hakam Qureshi and his career. It probably will not ever be matched. Mr. Hakam Qureshi became one of the most respected lawyers in the legal fraternity during his sixty year career at the Bar. He was elected as Member of Punjab Bar Council seven times and President of Lahore Bar Association four times. A hardworking self-made man, he was described as a "legend" of the Lahore Bar His passing away is akin to a magnificent and scared tree that has collapsed in the forest. He stood above the system in many ways. A gentleman through and through, he was also considered a mentor to generations of young lawyers. Time and again some of today's best lawyers have pointed to Mr. Hakam Qureshi as the standard to which they aspire to, owing to his extraordinary legal acumen and courtroom skills, including a sense of humbleness that endeared him to everyone that knew him. Qureshi Sahib had a wonderful, kind way with everybody he met. He was able to translate that into a legal practice helping people of all walks of life with their own legal issues. Above all he was a true friend. He did not seek notoriety, but was mostly in the spotlight. He was a remarkable person recognized locally and nationally for his professionalism, exceptional skill, and accomplishments throughout his extraordinary career as one of the country's most prominent lawyers. Mr. Hakam Qureshi also gained notice for his work on the welfare of the members of the Bar and his persistent struggle for their rights. He died at his home on 29-10-2013 after a lengthy illness. He was 85. His legend continues to live in the hearts and minds of his innumerable admirers. Condolences to his family for their loss. May his soul rest in peace, Aamin! MWA
