MR MR. JUSTICE ASIF SAEED KHAN KHOSA CHIEF JUSTICE OF PAKISTAN Mr. Justice Asif Saeed Khan Khosa was born on December 21, 1954 in Dera Ghazi Khan, Pakistan. He completed his graduation from the University of the Punjab in 1973 by achieving first position and was awarded the National Talent Scholarship. He went on to attain a Master of Arts degree in English Language and Literature from the University of the Punjab in 1975. Mr. Justice Khosa proceeded abroad to study for Law Tripos, Part I, from Queens' College, University of Cambridge and completed the same in the year 1977 followed by a Master of Laws degree from the same University, which he completed the following year. He was Called to the Bar on 26-07-1979 at the Honourable Society of Lincoln's Inn. Mr. Justice Khosa was enrolled as an Advocate of the High Court on 13-11-1979, and as an Advocate of the Supreme Court of Pakistan on 12-09-1985. During his practice at the bar Mr. Justice Khosa handled thousands of cases on constitutional, criminal, civil, service, revenue and election laws, many of which were reported in different law journals and reports of Pakistan. He also served as Member of the Library Committee and the Executive Committee of the Lahore High Court Bar Association, Lahore. During his career at the bar Mr. Justice Khosa also taught part-time and was visiting lecturer of Constitutional Law at different Universities as well as Government training institutes and conducted several training courses for civil judges. Mr. Justice Khosa has authored multiple books during his career, including books titled, 'Heeding the Constitution' (1995), 'Constitutional Apologues' (1997), and 'Judging with Passion (2008). He also edited and compiled 'The Constitution of Pakistan, 1973' with all amendments up to date (published in the year 1989). Several articles and research papers on diverse constitutional and legal issues have also been published under his name in major law reports and newspapers of the country since the year 1988. He was elevated to the Bench and appointed as a Judge of the Lahore High Court, Lahore on May 21, 1998. On February 18, 2010 he was elevated as a Judge of the Supreme Court of Pakistan. Over a judicial career spanning more than nineteen-and-a-half years, Mr. Justice Khosa has decided approximately 55,000 cases. He has had the honour of representing Pakistan at various international conferences, seminars and symposia held in Sri Lanka, India, Nepal, Canada, Tanzania, United Kingdom, Mauritius, Malaysia, Nigeria, Turkey, Scotland, Republic of Ireland, Bermuda, Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, United States of America, Japan, Italy and Tobago and Trinidad. Mr. Justice Khosa took oath as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Pakistan on 18th January, 2019.
