Attempt
n. 1. The act or an instance of making an effort to accomplish something, esp. Without success. 2. Criminal law. An overt act that is done with the intent to commit a crime but that falls short of completing the crime. 0 attempt is an inchoate offense distinct from the attempted crime. - also termed (in sense 2) criminal attempt; offer. The effort to monopolize any part of interstate or foreign commerce, consisting in (1) a specific intent to control prices or destroy competition in the relevant market, (2) predatory or anticompetitive conduct, and (3) a "dangerous probability" of success in achieving monopoly in the relevant market.
