Arbitration and award
an affirmative defense asserting that the subject matter of the action has already been settled in arbitration.
Award
ub. To grant by formal process or by judicial decree <the company awarded the contract to the low bidder> <the jury awarded punitive damages>.
Backpay award.
a judicial or quasi judicial body's decision that an employee or ex-employee is entitled to accrued but uncollected wages or benefits. - sometimes shortened to backpay.
