Libripens
n. [Latin] Roman law. A person who holds a bronze balance during actual or ritual sales, such as the ceremonies of emancipating a son from his father or conveying real property. ( The purchaser strikes the balance with a piece of bronze to symbolize completion of the sale. The seller then receives the bronze as a sign of the purchase money. See EMANCIPATION.
