n. [Law Latin] Hist. A female subject; a liege woman. See LIEGE (1).
Ligeance
Hist. 1. The obedience of a citizen to the citizen's sovereign or government; allegiance. 2. The territory of a state or sovereign. - Also spelled liegeance. See LIEGE. "Liegeance is a true and faithful obedience of the subject due to his sovereign; and this hegeance, which is an incident inseparable to every subject, is in four manners; the first is natural, the second acquired, the third local, and the fourth legal."
