Manufacture

n. Patents. A thing that is made or built by a human being (or by a machine), as distinguished from something that is a product of nature. ( Manufactures are one of the statutory categories of inventions that can be patented. Examples of manufactures are chairs and tires. - Also termed article of manufacture. Cf. MACHINE; PROCESS (3). "A manufacture must have a definable structure that is claimed as its patentable characteristic. Manufactures are, after all, a category of product patents, and therefore must be 'things,' as opposed to ways or means. In summary, a patentable manufacture is any human-made structure that has inventive characteristics." Arthur R. Miller & Michael H. Davis, Intellectual Property in a Nutshell 30 (2d ed. 1990).

Manufacturer

A person or entity engaged in producing or assembling new products. ( A federal law has broadened the definition to include those who act for (or are controlled by) any such person or entity in the distribution of new products, as well as those who import new products for resale. 42 USCA § 4902(6).

manufactured home

Secured transactions. A structure, transportable in one or more sections, that when traveling is 8 body feet or more in width or 40 body feet or more in length, or, when erected on site, is 320 or more square feet, and that is built on a permanent chassis and designed to be used as a dwelling with or without a permanent foundation when connected to the required utilities, and that has within it plumbing, heating, air-conditioning, and electrical systems. UCC § 9-102(a)(36).
