Actus judiciarius coram non judice irritus habetur; de ministeriali autem a quocunque provenit ratum esto

A judicial act before one not a judge (or without jurisdiction) is void; as to a ministerial act, from whomsoever it proceeds, let it be valid.

Aliquid conceditur ne injuria remaneat ampunita quod alias non concederetur

Something is conceded that otherwise would not be conceded, so that a wrong not remain unpuir ished.

Cui jurisdictio data est, ea quoque concessa esse videntur sine quibus jurisdictio explicari non potest

To whom jurisdiction is given, those things also are considered to be granted without which the jurisdiction cannot be exercised. ( That is, the grant of jurisdiction implies the grant of all powers necessary to its exercise.

Quando dispositio referri potent ad duas res, ita quod secundum relationem unam vitiatur et secundum alteram utilis sit, tum facienda est relatio ad illam ut valeat dispositio

When a disposition can refer to two matters, so that according to one reference it would be void and by another it would be effective, reference must be made to the latter, so that the disposition may take effect.

Quisquis est qui velit jurisconsultus haberi, continuet studium, velit a quocunque doceri

Whoever there is who wishes to be regarded as a jurisconsult (legal expert) should prolong his study and be willing to be taught by everyone.

What has been exacted from someone as a penalty no one is obliged to restore to him.
