actio institoria

[Latin] Roman law. An action against a principal by one who contracted with the principal's business agent. See INSTITOR.

institor

[Latin] Roman law. A person to whom the transaction of any particular business is committed; esp., a shopkeeper or other person in charge of a commercial business. See actio institoria under ACTIO.

Civil law. The power given by a business owner to an agent to act in the owner's behalf.
