misnomer
A mistake in naming a person, place, or thing, esp. in a legal instrument. ( In federal pleading - as well as in most states - misnomer of a party can be corrected by an amendment, which will relate back to the date of the original pleading. Fed. R. Civ. P. 15(c)(3).
