n. [Latin "new work protest"] Roman law. A protest or prohibition against an opus novum ("new work"). ( A person whose rights were impaired by the building or tearing of down a structure could protest at the worksite and forbid further activity. - Also termed (edictum) de novi operis nuntiatione.
