Int'l law. An act of lawful retaliation in kind for another nation's unfriendly or unfair act. ( Examples of retorsion include suspending diplomatic relations, expelling foreign nationals, and restricting travel rights. - Also spelled retortion. Cf. REPRISAL (2).
