surviving
adj. Remaining alive; living beyond the happening of an event so as to entitle one to a distribution of property or income <surviving spouse>. See SURVIVAL ACTION.
surviving corporation
A corporation that acquires the assets and liabilities of another corporation by a merger or takeover.
surviving partner

surviving partner.
The partner who, upon the partnership's dissolution because of another partner's death, serves as a trustee to administer the firm's remaining affairs.
