ACT XVIII OF 2009 ACT XVIII OF 2009 ABDUL WALI KHAN UNIVERSITY, MARDAN ACT, 2009 An Act to provide for the establishment of a University to be known as the Abdul Wali Khan University, Mardan [Gazette of N.-W.F.P. Extraordinary, 24th October, 2009] No.PA/NWFP/Bills/2009/38482, dated 24-10-2009.--The Abdul Wali Khan University, Mardan Bill, 2009 having been passed by the Provincial Assembly of North-West Frontier Province on 9th October, 2009 and assented to by the Governor of the North-West Frontier. Province on 20th October, 2009 is hereby published as an Act of the Provincial Legislature of the North-West Frontier Province. Preamble.---Whereas it is expedient to provide for the establishment of a University to be known as the Abdul Wali Khan University, Mardan and for matters connected therewith and ancillary thereto, in the manner hereinafter appearing; It is hereby enacted as follows:--- CHAPTER - V STATUTES, REGULATIONS AND RULES 30. Regulations.---(l) Subject to the provisions of this Act and the Statutes, the Academic Council may make Regulations, for all or any of the following matters, namely:-- (a) the courses of study for degrees, diplomas and certificates of the University; (b) the manner in which the Teaching referred to in subsection (1) of section 7 shall be organized and conducted; (c) the admission and expulsion of students to and from the University; (d) the conditions under which students shall be admitted to the courses and the examinations of the University and shall become eligible for the award of degrees, diplomas and certificates; (e) the conduct of examinations; (f) conditions under which a person may carry on independent research to entitle him to a degree; (g) the institution of fellowships, scholarships, exhibitions, medals and prizes; (h) the use of the Library; (i) the formation of Faculties, Departments and Board of Studies; and (j) all other matters which by this Act or the Statutes made there under are to be or may be prescribed by Regulations. (2) Regulations shall be proposed by the Academic Council and shall be submitted to the Senate which may approve them or withhold approval or refer them back to the Academic Council for reconsideration. A regulation proposed by the Academic Council shall not be effective unless it receives the approval of the Senate. (3) Regulations regarding or incidental to matters contained in clauses (g) and (i) of subsection (1) shall not be submitted to the Senate without the prior approval of the Syndicate.
