ACT X OF 2020 ACT X OF 2020 BABA GURU NANAK UNIVERSITY NANKANA SAHIB ACT, 2020 An Act to provide for the establishment of Baba Guru Nanak University Nankana Sahib [Gazette of Punjab Extraordinary, 2nd July, 2020] Baba Guru Nanak University Nankana Sahib Act, 2020 was passed by the Punjab Assembly on 26 June 2020; assented to by the Governor of the Punjab on 1st July 2020; and was published in the Punjab Gazette (Extraordinary), dated 2nd July 2020, pages 67-83. It is necessary in public interest to make provisions for the establishment of Baba Guru Nanak University Nankana Sahib and for the matters connected therewith and ancillary thereto. Be it enacted by Provincial Assembly of the Punjab as follows: CHAPTER II THE UNIVERSITY 3. Incorporation.---(1) The Government shall, by notification, establish a University to be called Baba Guru Nanak University Nankana Sahib with its campus located at Nankana Sahib. (2) The University shall consist of the following: (a) Chancellor; (b) Pro-Chancellor; (c) Vice Chancellor; (d) Pro-Vice Chancellor; (e) members of an Authority; (f) chairpersons and Deans; (g) teachers and students; and (h) Officers and members of the staff of the University. (3) The University shall be a body corporate by the name of Baba Guru Nanak University Nankana Sahib and shall have a perpetual succession and a common seal and may, by the said name, sue and be sued. (4) The University shall be competent to acquire and hold property both movable and immoveable and lease sell or otherwise transfer any movable or immoveable property which vests in or has been acquired by it.
