ACT X OF 2020 ACT X OF 2020 BABA GURU NANAK UNIVERSITY NANKANA SAHIB ACT, 2020 An Act to provide for the establishment of Baba Guru Nanak University Nankana Sahib [Gazette of Punjab Extraordinary, 2nd July, 2020] Baba Guru Nanak University Nankana Sahib Act, 2020 was passed by the Punjab Assembly on 26 June 2020; assented to by the Governor of the Punjab on 1st July 2020; and was published in the Punjab Gazette (Extraordinary), dated 2nd July 2020, pages 67-83. It is necessary in public interest to make provisions for the establishment of Baba Guru Nanak University Nankana Sahib and for the matters connected therewith and ancillary thereto. Be it enacted by Provincial Assembly of the Punjab as follows: CHAPTER III OFFICERS OF THE UNIVERSITY 11. Inspection and inquiry.---(1) The Chancellor may direct inspection or inquiry into the affairs of the University. (2) The Chancellor shall convey the views with regard to the result of the inspection or inquiry to the Syndicate and may, after ascertaining the views of the Syndicate, direct any remedial action to the Syndicate. (3) The Syndicate shall, within the time specified by the Chancellor, submit compliance report to the Chancellor about the action taken on the direction of the Chancellor. (4) If the Syndicate fails to take action to the satisfaction of the Chancellor within the specified time, the Chancellor may issue such direction as the Chancellor deems appropriate and the Syndicate shall comply with that direction. (5) The Chancellor may set aside a decision or action of the Syndicate, which, in the opinion of the Chancellor, is against the law, interest of academic excellence of the University, religious or cultural ideology, or national integrity.
