ACT V OF 1990 ACT V OF 1990 ASSEMBLY MEMBERS (SALARIES AND ALLOWANCES) (AMENDMENT) ACT, 1990 An Act to amend the Sindh Assembly Members (Salaries and Allowances) Act, 1974 [Gazette of Sindh, Extraordinary, Part IV, 16th July, 1990] No.PAS/Legis-B-1/90, dated 16-7-1990: -The Sindh Assembly Members (Salaries and Allowances) (Amendment) Bill, 1990 having been passed by the Provincial Assembly of Sindh on 27th June, 1990 and assented to by the Governor of Sindh on 12th July, 1990 is hereby published as an Act of the Legislature of Sindh. 4. Insertion of section 5-A in Sindh Act XXVI of 1974.--In the said Act, after section 5, the following new section shall be inserted:-- "5-A. Free Traveling.-(1) A member shall be provided during a year with such vouchers of the value of twenty-five thousand rupees as would enable him to travel within Pakistan at any time without payment of any fare by Air or by Rail: Provided that, where a person becomes a Member during the course of a year, the value of vouchers with which he is provided during that year shall be reduced proportionately. - (2) A member who does not wish to be provided with the vouchers shall be paid an allowance of twenty thousand rupees in lieu of, such vouchers. (3) Any voucher with which a Member is provided under subsection (1) may be utilized by the family of the Member. (4) The utilization by a Member of any voucher with which he is provided under subsection (1) for the purpose of any journey for which he is entitled to any travelling allowance under this Act shall not in any way effect his right to receive such allowance. Explanation.- For the purpose of this section, "family" means the spouse and children and "Member" includes the Speaker, the Deputy Speaker, a Minister, an Advisor to the Chief Minister, a Special Assistant to the Chief Minister, a Parliamentary Secretary and Leader of Opposition."
