THE ARMED FORCES (SPECIAL POWERS) EXTENSION ORDINANCE, 1942 THE ARMED FORCES (SPECIAL POWERS) EXTEN SION ORDINANCE, 1942. ORDINANCE NO. LXVI OF 1942 [24th December, 1942] An Ordinance to provide for the extension of the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Ordinance, 1942, to officers and members of police forces employed on certain duties. WHEREAS an emergency has arisen which makes it necessary to provide for the extension of the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Ordinance, 1942, to officers and members of police forces employed on certain duties ; Ord XLI of 1942. Now, THEREFORE, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 72 of the Government of India Act, as set out in the Ninth Schedule to the Government of India Act, 1935, the Gov ernor‑General is pleased to make and promulgate the following Ordinance :‑ 26 Geo. 5,c.2. 2. Power to extend Ord. XLI of 1942 to police forces-----The Central Government or a Provincial Government may, by notification in the official Gazette, direct that the pro visions of section 2 and section 4 of the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Ordinance, 1942, shall apply to the officers and members of any police force or any portion of a police force specified in the notification, when employed on any duty speci fied in the notification, as they apply to officers and members of (Subs. by A. O., 1961, Art. 2 and Sch., for "His Majesty's Military Forces" (with effect from the 23rd March, 1956).)[the military forces of Pakistan]; and on such direction being made the powers exercisable by an officer not below the rank of Captain in (Subs. by A. O., 1961, Art. 2 and Sch., for "His Majesty's Military Forces" (with effect from the 23rd March, 1956).)[the military forces of Pakistan] shall be exercisable by any officer of a police force so specified who holds a gazetted appointment in such force.
