BALOCHISTAN UNIVERSITY OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY AND MANAGEMENT SCIENCES QUETTA ORDINANCE, 2002 BALOCHISTAN UNIVERSITY OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY AND MANAGEMENT SCIENCES QUETTA ORDINANCE, 2002 ORDINANCE OF XI 2002 An Ordinance to provide for the establishment of the Balochistan University of Information Technology and Management Sciences Quetta. The following Ordinance made by the Governor of Balochistan on 8th July, 2002, is hereby published for general information: 5. The power and function of the University. ---(1) The purpose of the University shall be the promotion and dissemination of knowledge in areas of emerging science and Technology to provide for instruction, training research, demonstration and service in such branches of learning as the University may determine. (2) The University shall have the powers:-- (a) to provide for instruction in such branches of learning as it may deem fit, and to make provisions of research and for the advancement and dissemination of knowledge in such manner as it may determine; (b) to admit and examine students; (c) to award and confer degree, diplomas, certificates and other academic distinctions to and on person who have been admitted to and have passed its examinations under prescribed conditions; (d) to confer degrees on persons who have carried out independent research under prescribed conditions; (e) to confer in the manner prescribed honorary degrees or other distinctions on persons approved by the syndicate for the purpose; (f) to affiliate other institution or branches or departments thereof, o recognize selected members of the' staff thereof as teachers of the University, to admit the members thereof to any of the privileges of the University and to accept attendance at courses of study at the University upon such terms and conditions and subject to such Regulation as may from time to time be determined by the University upon such terms and conditions and subject to such Regulation as may from time to time be determined by the University and established campuses, Faculties in Pakistan or abroad under prescribed conditions and in accordance with any law for the time being in force in this behalf for better discharge of its functions and responsibilities; (g) to admit Colleges and other educational institutions to its privileges withdraw such privileges under prescribed manner; (h) to inspect Colleges, affiliated or seeking affiliation with it; (i) to accept the examinations passed, on the period of study spent by the students, of the University at other University at other Universities, college-or places of learning as equivalent to such examinations and periods of study in the University as it may determine, and to withdraw such acceptances; (j) to Institute Professorship, Associate professorship, Assistant Professorship, or Lecturerships and any other posts and to appoint person thereto and to remove them from such offices, and to prescribe the conditions of service; (k) to create posts in connection with teaching, research extension, training and administration of affairs and for any other purpose related :hereto and appoint persons thereto; (l) to Institute and award fellowships, scholarships, bursaries, medals, prizes and other aids of study and research under prescribed manner; (m) to establish Institutes, Colleges, Departments, Centers of advanced studies Museums, Herbaria and other centers of learning for the development of teaching and research and to make suitable arrangements for the maintenance, management and administration; (n) to charge and receive such fees and others payments as it may determine; (o) to use the financial and others resources allocated to it for the execution of functions; (p) to make provisions for research and advisory services and with these objectives to enter into arrangements with other institutions of with public bodies within Pakistan and abroad under prescribed conditions and in accordance with any for the time being in force in this behalf; (q) to enter into agreements, contracts and other arrangements with institutional bodies and individuals for carrying out its functions and activities; (r) to receive and manage property transferred, or grants, bequests trust gifts, donation, endowments and other contributions made, to the University and invest and Fund representing such property, grants, bequests, trusts, gift, donations, endowments or contributions and convert one kind of property into another, in such manner as it may deem fit; (s) to provide for reward or otherwise, such good and services for members of staff of the University and their families guests and servants as may be deemed expedient and consistent with the object of the University as a place of education learning and research. (t) to deprive persons of any degrees, diplomas, licences, certificates or others distinction conferred on or granted to them by the University for reasons to be given by the University. (u) to prescribe rules for the Discipline of the students of the University: (v) to make provision for research, designs, development and advisory services and with these objects to enter into such arrangements with other institution, companies, organizations, or bodies as may be thought desirable, and (w) to establish and maintain and to administer and govern hostels and others institutions for the residence of the students of the University and to supervise such hostels and others institutions and licences and supervise other places of residence, whether or not maintained by the University.
