ORDINANCE IX OF 1979 ORDINANCE IX OF 1979 BALUCHISTAN LOCAL GOVERNMENT ORDINANCE, 1979 CHAPTER II‑LOCAL AREAS 9. Certain Characteristics of local areas.‑(1) As far as may be, the local areas declared as Union, Mohallah, Tehsil, Town, Municipality or a City under this Ordinance may conform to certain characteristics, namely:‑ (a) the local areas may be a territorial Unity; (b) the area of Union shall not cross the limits of Tehsil and shall have population between 10000 and 15000; (c) the population of a town may vary from 5000 to 10000; (d) the population of a Municipality may exceed 10 thousand but less than one lac; (e) save as otherwise provided or notified by the Government, a City may comprise a population of one Jac or above. (2) The Government may, for reasons to be recorded, waive any of the aforesaid characteristics while delimiting the local areas.
