Section Provisions

ORDINANCE IX OF 1979 ORDINANCE IX OF 1979 BALUCHISTAN LOCAL GOVERNMENT ORDINANCE, 1979 CHAPTER IV‑COMPOSITION or LOCAL COUNCILS 16. Representation of tenants, workers and women.‑(1) A District Council may have such numbers of members representating peasants, tenants, workers and women as given below and they shall be elected in the prescribed manner. District Council‑‑ (i) Peasants‑‑equal to 5 % of the number of members elected to general seats. (ii) workers‑equal to 5 % of the numbers of members elected to general seats. (iii) Tenants‑equal to 5 % of the numbers of members elected to general seat s. (vi) women‑‑equal to 5 % of the number of members elected to general seats. (2) Nothing contained in subsection (1) shall prevent the members of the special interest mentioned in the said subsection from being elected to general seat in any District Council and if they are so elected their representation fixed in subsection (1) shall be reduced to that extent. (3) If the required number of special interests is not elected the members elected against general seats shall elect the remaining number of members of the said special interests for the membership of the District Council.
