Police and Defence functions, of Tehsil Councils.‑(1) A Tehsil Council may establish a village Police Force. (2) Government may by rules regulate the appointment, training, discipline, terms and conditions of service of the members of the village police force. (3) The Village Police Force shall exercise such powers and discharge such duties as may be prescribed. (4) Where a Tehsil Council is of opinion that special measures are necessary to secure village defence or public security, it may require inhabitants of the Tehsil to perform the following duties;---. (a) Patrolling and guarding of key points ; (b) Civil Defence ; and (c) Rifle training and other training for public security. (5) A Tehsil Council shall maintain a village‑wise list of able‑bodied persons.
