ORDINANCE IX OF 1979 ORDINANCE IX OF 1979 BALUCHISTAN LOCAL GOVERNMENT ORDINANCE, 1979 CHAPTER XII OPTIONAL FUNCTIONS OF MUNICIPAL COMMITTEES( (J)‑Municipal Police 128. Municipal Police.‑(1) A Municipal Committee may and if directed by the Government shall, maintain such police force, to be known as Municipal Police, as may be necessary. (2) The Municipal Police shall be a police force within the meaning of section 2 of the Police Act, 1861, and shall consist of such number of officers and men who shall receive such pay and allowances, and shall be employed on such terms and conditions as the Government may from time to time determine. (3) The Government may, notwithstanding anything contained in the Police Act, 1861 or in any other law, prescribe the duties which the Municipal Police may or may not be required to perform. (4) Any officer or servant of a Municipal Committee when empowered in that behalf by a general or special order of the Government, may exercise the powers of a police officer for such purposes of this Ordinance, as may be specified in such order.
