Pollution, infection, disease or constamination in open drain was a slow poison which would affect every person

Such open drain, unless covered by slabs, would be a continuous threat to every person of the city

Plantation of trees on the green belt along the open drain would be beneficial for every person and would improve environment of the entire city

Authorities had failed to discharge their duties in the required manner and had they taken timely and well-planned steps through proper plans and schemes to avoid pollution and prevent illegal encroachments, situation of city in question would have been completely different

High Court while treating present matter as public interest litigation directed authorities concerned to move proposal to Government for construction of slab cover over the retaining wall along open drain and take steps to remove encroachments from the green belt.
