What are the essential ingredients to successfully plead the right of private defense of body under Section 97 PPC in a murder trial? How does it differ from sudden provocation under Exception 1 of Section 300 PPC?

Private defense is a complete exception, leading to acquittal if proved. Sudden provocation only reduces the offense from Section 302(a) or (b) to Section 302(c) (qatl-i-amd not liable to qisas, max 25 years). For private defense, there must be a reasonable apprehension of death or grievous hurt.
