Criminal Miscellaneous No. 1 of 2008. Mahmood Iqbal, appellant/petitioner, stands convicted under sections 23(1)(a)/23(1)(i)/23(1)(c)/23(1)(iii)/and 23(1)(a) of Drugs Act, 1976 and sentenced from two months to five years' R.I. The petitioner has sought suspension of his sentence under section 426, Cr. P. C.

2. The sentence is short. The appeal may take sufficient time for its hearing on its turn. We, therefore, suspend the sentence recorded by the Trial Court and admit the petitioner to bail in the sum of Rs.1,00,000 (One lac only) with one 'surety in the like amount to the satisfaction of Deputy Registrar (Judicial) of this Court. H.B.T./M-206/L Sentence refused.
