A debtor gave me a check of PKR 500,000 which was bounced due to insufficient funds. I filed a police application, but they say it was a business transaction and refuse to lodge an FIR. What should I do?

To trigger Section 489-F of the Pakistan Penal Code, the check must have been issued with dishonest intent towards repayment of a loan or fulfillment of an obligation. If the police refuse to register an FIR, you can file a petition under Section 22-A/22-B CrPC before the Justice of Peace (Sessions Judge) to order the registration of the FIR.
