I want to start a software house and register it as an SMC-Private limited company with SECP. What are the requirements and minimum capital? Can a single person be the director and owner?

Yes, under the Companies Act 2017, a single person can register a Single Member Company (SMC-PVT). You need: (1) CNIC of director, (2) CNIC of a nominee director (who takes over in case of death), (3) Company name approval. The minimum capital can be as low as PKR 100,000, and there is no requirement to deposit the money in bank before registration. Registration can be done online through SECP eServices portal.
