I ordered a branded smartwatch from an online seller on Daraz, but received a cheap copy. Daraz customer support is refusing to refund, saying the seller is third-party. Is Daraz legally responsible?

Yes, e-commerce platforms can be held liable in the Consumer Court for 'provision of defective services' and facilitating deceptive marketing. Under Consumer Protection laws, platforms cannot completely evade liability for third-party sellers if they act as the payment and delivery agent. Send a legal notice to both Daraz management and the specific vendor.
