Wife and Child Maintenance - How is it calculated?

You can file a Suit for Maintenance in the Family Court. The court will assess your husband's financial status, income, and assets. Usually, the court awards 30% to 40% of the husband's income as maintenance for the wife (during IDDAT or marriage) and children. The court can also issue interim maintenance orders within 30 days of filing so you get financial support while the case is ongoing.
