A sister got her Nikah solemnized last year, but Rukhsati did not take place and the marriage remained unconsummated. Due to severe differences, she has now filed for Khula in the Family Court. The husband is demanding the return of the entire prompt dower of 15 tolas of gold that was given at the time of Nikah. What is the law in Punjab regarding the return of dower in cases of Khula for an unconsummated marriage? Does she have to return all of it or only a part of it?

My sister won a dower recovery suit where the family court decreed 7 tolas of gold ornaments as Haq Mehr, or in the alternative, Rs. 100,000 in cash. Now, in the execution proceedings, the husband is insisting on paying only Rs. 100,000 cash instead of returning the 7 tolas of gold or its current market value (which is now much higher). Does the husband have the choice to pay the alternative cash value, or does the wife have the right to demand the current market value of the gold?

I am a divorced mother of a 5-year-old daughter. I am considering remarrying. My ex-husband is threatening that if I remarry, he will immediately file a custody suit and the court will take my daughter away because of my remarriage. Does a mother automatically lose the right of Hizanat (custody) of a minor daughter upon second marriage under Pakistani family law?
